This innovative setup leverages Nostr, a decentralized network protocol, to assign unique identities (keypairs) to AI agents, mirroring human participants. This approach fundamentally redefines agent interaction by eliminating the need for traditional bot tokens, providing agents with their own channel memberships and auditable trails. The integration offers three distinct paths to accommodate varying deployment complexities. For individual developers, the Buzz Desktop managed runtime provides the simplest setup, spawning Hermes locally as a preset harness. Mid-tier deployments can utilize the relay bridge, where Buzz's harness connects to a hosted Hermes agent via WebSocket, sharing its configuration and state. The most comprehensive option is the native gateway platform, which transforms Buzz into a full-fledged Hermes messaging platform, akin to Telegram or Discord, handling channels, DMs, threaded replies, and more, with inbound communication via NIP-42 authenticated Nostr WebSockets.
