NVIDIA has officially launched Alpamayo 2 Super for commercial use, an advanced open reasoning model specifically engineered to address the most complex and rare "long-tail" scenarios encountered by robotaxis and autonomous vehicles (AVs). Moving beyond basic perception, this model empowers AVs to deeply understand situations, reason about cause and effect, and make real-time, safe, and comfortable driving decisions, tackling challenges that are difficult to anticipate and train for.

Built on the NVIDIA Cosmos 3 Super Reasoner and further refined with reinforcement learning, Alpamayo 2 Super functions as a single foundation model offering extensive multitask capabilities for autonomous driving. This architecture enables it to process intricate environmental data, infer optimal actions, and translate those into precise navigation paths, providing a robust solution for the demanding intelligence requirements of AV systems.

The commercial availability under the permissive OpenMDW-1.1 license from the Linux Foundation is a significant boon for developers and researchers. This license grants AV developers, automakers, and suppliers the freedom to fine-tune, create derivative models, and commercially redistribute Alpamayo 2 Super, tailoring it to their specific data, driving policies, and deployment strategies.
